Upon arrival at one of Lithuania's airports you can find a wide variety of car rental companies such as Admita, Enterprise, Alamo, Top Rent, Sit&go, Solorent or GBY. Many of these rental companies are located in the airport itself or in car rental centres near the airport.
The main advantage of renting a car at one of Lithuania's airports is simply convenience. Upon arrival at the airport, the customer can walk to the rental point and pick up the car from the nearby parking lot. Also, the customer does not need to make an additional journey to the airport to return the car.
Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports are the main hubs for car rental customers. As a result, there are many car rental companies competing in these locations. The competition naturally allows customers to rent a car cheaply, which can be as low as EUR 10 per day in the low season and up to EUR 25 per day in July or August.
Car rental at Lithuanian airports is favoured by the large number of petrol stations around these locations. This is important as customers have to fill up their car before returning it to Vilnius, Kaunas or Palanga airports.
Vilnius Airport has a wide range of rental companies offering economy, compact, standard, minivan, luxury, SUV and crossover cars at low prices. Travelling by car from Vilnius Airport is convenient, as public transport may not always arrive on time and the customer can get where he needs to go independently. Car manufacturers available for rental at Vilnius Airport include Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai, Seat, Peugeot, BMW, Mercedes, Kia and Opel. When renting a car at Vilnius Airport, you can expect the highest level of service and new cars. There are many reliable rental companies working in this location and they constantly strive to provide the best possible service to their customers.
Although Kaunas Karmėlava Airport is smaller than Vilnius Airport, the same rental companies mentioned above can also be found at this airport. The biggest advantage of renting a car at Kaunas Airport is that all rental companies are located in the Kaunas Airport terminal itself. At Vilnius Airport, some of the companies are located in the car rental centre, which is 100 metres away from the terminal itself. In bad weather, it is possible to get wet on the way to the rental point.
It is also cheaper to rent a car at Kaunas Airport because it is a smaller airport, where rental companies incur lower costs.
Car rental in Palanga Airport is unique because it is a holiday and recreational location. From this location, people continue to travel to the seaside, to Klaipėda, or to other cities in western Lithuania. Palanga Airport is the smallest of all Lithuanian airports. However, it is still a popular destination for flights to Vilnius and Kaunas. In the summer, car rental in Palanga costs between EUR 20-30 per day for an economy car like a VW Polo or Toyota Yaris. For a week's stay, the same economy car can cost €100-130, while larger SUVs like the VW T-roc, VW Tiguan or Toyota Rav4 can cost €250-300. In winter, when seaside tourism closes for the off-season, you can expect much lower prices.
